The Successful Believers

In the name of God, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.

1. Successful indeed are the believers.

2. Those who offer their Salat (prayers) with all solemnity and full submissiveness.

3. And those who turn away from Al-Laghw (dirty, false, evil vain talk, falsehood, and all that Allah has forbidden).

4. And those who pay the Zakat .

5. And those who guard their chastity (i.e. private parts, from illegal sexual acts)

6. Except from their wives or (the captives and slaves) that their right hands possess, for then, they are free from blame;

7. But whoever seeks beyond that, then those are the transgressors;

8. Those who are faithfully true to their Amanat (all the duties which Allah has ordained, honesty, moral responsibility and trusts etc.) and to their covenants;

9. And those who strictly guard their (five compulsory congregational) Salawat (prayers) (at their fixed stated hours).

10. These are indeed the inheritors.

11. Who shall inherit the Firdaus (Paradise). They shall dwell therein forever.

(Surah Al Mu’minun, 1-11)

Was feeling really upset, and somehow Allah blessed me (alhamdulillah) with a friend who randomly shared with me a reflection on the first few verses of Surah Al Mu’minun… mashaAllah, that just put everything into perspective… Here we have the definition of success… And this teaches me what to focus on for now…

May Allah make us from the successful believers… May we have the strength to fulfill what it takes to be a successful believer… May Allah accept all our efforts… May Allah forgive us of our sins… Ameen, ya Rabbal Alameen.

Istighfar

In the introduction to al-Habib Umar bin as-Saqqaf’s work with regard to making tawbah, Tafrihul Qulub wa Tafrijul Kurub, al-Habib disclosed the magnificence of seeking forgiveness (istighfar),

“the Book of Allah and the ahadith of the Apostle of Allah saas over and over again mention the virtues of seeking forgiveness (istighfar). Among them are the expiation of sins, the inception of a way out of various life issues, and the getting rid of unhappiness, depression as well as problems of the heart.”

“Indeed, problems and flogging life issues usually stem from sin. Therefore, these ought to be treated with the seeking of forgiveness (istighfar) and sincere repentance (tawbah). The Apostle of Allah saas said, “Whoever often does istighfar, then for him, Allah gives happiness in his preoccupations, a way out of difficulties, and He will bestow sustenance (rizq) to him in ways he had never considered”

As if to assert his point, al-Habib Umar repeated the virtues istighfar, “The benefits of istighfar is the expiation of sins, the veiling of abominations (aib), the acceleration of receiving sustenance (rizq) , the continual protection to self and property, the facilitation toward achievement of goals, the cultivation of barakah (grace) on one’s property, and a means to getting closer to Him (swt)”

I long to reach out and talk, but when I do, the words jumble and come out in a mumble, weak.

It is at this point where I realise I can only speak to Allah, the One who Listens and Understands.

“Hasbunallahu wa ni`mal Wakil”

[Allah (Alone) is Sufficient for us, and He is the Best Disposer of affairs (for us).]” (3:173).

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful..

Sometimes, one goes through struggle to learn what is truly meant by the sweetness of faith, to learn what it means to be serene. And one only has to thank God for it, for helping with the polishing of oneself, with each step, growing ever more closer to being beautiful within, to learn strength… God-willing

Things I learnt:

- To see a person as an individual, a whole, and not just in relation to how s/he treats me. To really appreciate someone, to really see how beautiful s/he is, look at how this person is with his/her work, family, friends, strangers, and most importantly with his/her deen.

- Be a person who is productive. Fill time with beauty, with purpose, with the beneficial. This is easy to say but hard to do. Wasting time means wasting Allah’s most precious gift to us. God-willing, there is so much to accomplish, to be, to reflect on, to understand. Also, if one is busy, one would not be sad, there would be no time to mope!!!! hehehehe!

- Fix the holes in the soul. Identify the root cause, what is really needed, and not to fill that hole with more emptiness. God-willing, I will try.

There is a feeling of peace. And whenever that comes, I smile, it is a feeling of contentment that is unlike any other. This feeling only comes, truly, in the remembrance of God.. :’) I forget often, very very often, I am a human, with many flaws and weaknesses. But when Allah looks at me with mercy, and gives me the great pleasure of being reminded of Him… that is better than anything, any temporary pleasure. I just pray, really sincerely pray, that I will not forget this. Please, ya Allah ,let me not forget what I am put on this world for…

Courage

lies in the “breathe in, breathe out”

doing without the drama

holding on to whispers of prayers

memorised for this exact

moment of meekness meant to make one

remember

there is no burden

believe it believe it

that God does not give what one cannot bear.

Visualise the virtuous

the Pious, perhaps the most perfect person

our Prophet PEACE BE UPON HIM

who embodied peace

in every difficulty

because there will be relief

because there will be reward

for a beautiful patience.

Drop the despair

lift the hands and say thank You

for turning me to You in

this time of trouble

what an honour.
